For the first time Belarus will be holding live auditions for artists competing in their Junior Eurovision Song Contest selection process.
On July 7 all of the eligible singers who have submitted their application to represent Belarus at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017 will be invited to live auditions in Minsk. Following all of the performances a professional jury will selected between seven and ten artists to go through to the live national final. The date of Belarus’ national final has yet to be determined but will be held before September 16.
As of June 30 a total of 30 applications have been received, with the final number of applicants to be announced in seven days time. Today marked the final day for singers to apply to take part in the national selection process. The winner as ever will be decided by 50% public televote and 50% jury vote. In the event of a tie the jury will vote again on the songs that are tied. In the event of a further tie the Chairman of the jury decides who will represent Belarus at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
Belarus is one of a number of countries who will used a televised selection process to select their participant in this years contest. Also confirmed so far as using a televised selection are, Albania, Ireland, Malta, Netherlands, while Russia has already selected their entry for this years contest in Georgia.

To date, Belarus have won the contest twice – first in 2005 with Ksenia Sitnik and her song “My Vmeste”, which received 149 points, and the second time in 2007 with Alexey Zhigalkovich and his song “S Druz’yami”, which received a total of 137 points. Their worst entry came from Egor Volchek and his song “Spjavajtse So Mnoj” in 2004, which received only 9 points.
