The 2017 Eurovision Song Contest is about to begin, with less than 24 hours to go until the first semi-final. Before the competition finally begins, here is a final look at the full betting odds for this year’s contest.
Semi-Final 1
Since our last look at the betting odds on Saturday 6th May, there has been virtually no change in the bookies’ odds for this show. Based on the odds provided by Oddschecker, the ten qualifiers would still be Sweden, Armenia, Portugal, Azerbaijan, Greece, Australia, Finland, Moldova, Cyprus and Belgium. As the favourite to qualify for Saturday night’s final, Sweden’s Robin Bengtsson has average odds of 1/33 to go through. His odds have continued to shorten with each day, as have the odds for a qualification for Armenia’s Artsvik. Her odds currently stand at 1/25 to qualify, and 9/4 to win the semi-final. Interestingly, despite Sweden being the favourite to qualify, Armenia remains the favourite to win the semi-final. The 2nd-favourite to win the semi is Portugal’s Salvador Sobral with odds of 5/2.
Over the past week of rehearsals, the highest climber in the odds from this semi-final is Finland, who were not in the bookies’ top 10 a week ago. Meanwhile, Belgium has fallen the most in the odds. Whilst Blanche remains in the top 10 from this semi-final, her odds of qualification are continuing to drift. At the other end of the scale is the Czech Republic, who remain the least favourite to qualify with odds of 81/10. In fact, the odds of Martina Bárta failing to reach the final are at 1/25.
Semi-Final 2
Based on the bookies’ odds, the favourite to qualify from and also to win semi-final 2 would be Bulgaria. Kristian has average odds of 1/50 to qualify, and odds of 8/11 to win the semi-final. The rest of the bookies’ top 10 are Estonia, Romania, Denmark, the Netherlands, Hungary, Israel, Austria, Norway and Belarus. Aside from Estonia rising to 2nd favourite to qualify there has been little change in these odds. The greatest riser in the odds for this semi-final over the past week has been Israel, who were not in the bookies’ top 10 a week ago. Meanwhile Switzerland, who were in the bookies’ top 10 to qualify, have fallen the farthest in the odds. Their odds of qualification are now around 80/1. However, San Marino remain the least favourite to qualify from this semi-final with best odds of 81/10 to qualify and 1/20 not to qualify.
Grand Final
Looking forward to Saturday night, the favourite to win this year’s contest remains Italy. Francesco Gabbani’s “Occidentali’s Karma” has been the favourite to win the contest since it won the Sanremo Festival back in February, and the average odds for an Italian win are now at 8/13. An initial drift in his odds following his first rehearsal has now ended, and Francesco’s odds are now starting to shorten again. The 2nd-favourite to win the contest is Portugal, with Salvador’s average odds to win now at 6/1 and continuing to shorten. Meanwhile, Bulgaria is now back in the bookies’ top 3 after falling slightly earlier in the week, with average odds of 10/1 for Kristian to secure Bulgaria’s first victory in the contest. However, Kristian’s odds of victory are currently drifting, as are Sweden’s Robin Bengtsson, who also has average odds of 10/1 to win. Sweden are currently sitting above Armenia in 5th place, who have average odds of 16/1.
Completing the top 10 with the bookies are now Romania, Azerbaijan, the Netherlands, the UK and Finland. The UK and the Netherlands have risen dramatically in the odds following their rehearsals, and neither were considered favourites to win a week ago. Meanwhile, Australia and Belgium, who were both in the top 6 a week ago, are now 12th and 13th respectively.
