Today, NTU have revealed details about the press centre for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, including details about the capacity and facilities available.
With just one week to go until rehearsals begin in Kyiv, NTU have announced that the press centre for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, which is located within Kyiv’s International Exhibition Centre, will be equipped to host up to 2,000 accredited journalists from around the world. Over 1,500 journalists and fans are expected to arrive in the city to cover the contest and use the facilities on offer in the press centre. The centre will have WiFi, cable internet and other equipment, and there will be a fully-equipped radio studio and rooms for private interviews, which can be used if necessary. There will also be a restaurant and lounge area where accredited fans and media can watch the rehearsals, and an area at the entrance to the arena where volunteers will be on-hand to help with any queries or issues.
There will also be a press conference room, where official interviews will be held with the competing artists. This room will have a capacity of 500, along with up to 80 cameras. Meet and Greets with the artists will take place here from 30th April to 3rd May, and from 4th May to 13th May full press conferences will take place with each of the 42 participants.
Preparations for the arrival of the artists and press on Sunday 30th April have already begun in Kyiv, with the technical rehearsals currently taking place in the International Exhibition Centre. These rehearsals have seen the completed Eurovision 2017 stage in action for the first time, using stand in artists in order to practice camera work, backdrops, lighting and effects on-stage before the artists arrive in Kyiv.
Yesterday, NTU also released details about the 2017 Eurovision Fan Village, which will open from 12:00pm until 22:00pm every day from 4th to 14th May. It will be located on Khreshchatyk Street, which can be easily accessed from the nearby Khreshckatyk Metro station, which is on the Sviatoshynsko-Brovarska Line (also known as M1, or the Red Line). It will be open from 12:00, until 22:00 every day. Here, fans who do not have tickets for the live shows but still want to experience the Eurovision atmosphere will be able to watch the broadcasts live with other fans.
