Sweden: Robin To Start Performance Backstage In Kyiv

Robin Bengtsson will start his performance of “I Can’t Go On” backstage in Kyiv, similar to his Melodifestivalen performance.

Last weekend in an interview with Eurovoix at the London Eurovision Party, Robin Bengtsson had revealed that he plans on starting his Eurovision performance backstage in May, just like his Melodifestivalen performance.The Swedish entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, Robin Bengtsson, told Eurovoix:

“I’m bringing my treadmills, and I know I’m allowed to start the performance backstage, so I’m gonna do that!”

Robin also told Eurovoix that he’d only rehearsed with the treadmills in his performance for around two days before taking to the Melodifestivalen stage. Robin Bengtsson will represent Sweden at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv in May, with his song “I Can’t Go On”. Chosen to represent the country after winning Swedish national final Melodifestivalen 2017, Robin had also taken part in Melodifestivalen 2016 with his song “Constellation Prize”, where he placed 5th. Last year Sweden hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in capital city Stockholm, following Mans Zelmerlow’s victory the previous year with his song “Heroes”.

This year Sweden will be attending multiple pre-party events, and so far have already been to the London Eurovision Party and Israel Calling, with their next stops being Eurovision In Concert in Amsterdam this weekend, and the Spanish Pre-Party in Madrid in a few weeks time.

The country has won the contest six times, the most recent being in 2015. Sweden’s first victory came in 1974 when ABBA won the contest in Brighton with “Waterloo”. Since missing out on the final in 2010, Sweden has gone on to finish 3rd twice and has won the contest twice, only in 2013 did the country place outside of the top 10 in the final.
