Vogue Ukraine has presented the work of the nine Ukrainian designers competing to dress the hosts of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.
The designs of nine Ukrainian fashion designers competing to dress the three hosts of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 has been revealed by Vogue Ukraine. For a second year running Vog Ukraine working on a Eurovision project, having run a competition in 2016 to dress Jamala for her performance in Stockholm, Sweden.
The competition has the full backing of this years Show Producer, Stuart Barlow who added:
Competition among the Ukrainian designers to create designs for the hosts of Eurovision-2017 – it’s a great idea, because we have three beautiful Men, and there is a lot of room for imagination. In addition, this competition complies slogan of Eurovision this year -. Celebrate Diversity – because it shows a variety of design from Ukrainian professionals.
The nine competing Ukrainian designers are:
- Lake Studio
- Podolyan
- Andre Tan
- Frolov
- Indposhiv
- Gapchuk
- LUVI
- Litkovskaya
- Burenina
The winning designer will be selected by Vogue Ukraine and the Organising Committee of the 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. You can view all of the competing designs in full here.
Who Are The Hosts?
Oleksandr Skichko – Is a well known host of programs such as Wake Up, Star Way and Sing Like A Star. He rose to fame in Ukraine at the age of 15 having taking part in Ukraine’s Got Talent, he went on to reach the semi final stages.
Volodymyr Ostapchuk – Presenter of live shows such as Morning with Ukraine, as well as Shopping Goddess and Style Icon. He was the voice of Hans in the Ukrainian language version of Frozen.
Timur Miroshnychenko – Previously hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in both 2009 and 2013. He has been the Ukrianian commentator at the Eurovision Song Contest, Junior Eurovision, Eurovision Dance Contest and Eurovision Young Musicians. He was commentating at the contest in 2016 when Jamala won. In total he has worked on 30 Eurovision projects.
A total of 43 countries are to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine. Returning to the Eurovision stage are Portugal and Romania who both took a year out from the contest in 2016. Bosnia & Herzegovina has however withdrawn from the contest due to financial difficulties at the national broadcaster, BHRT. Ukraine is hosting this years contest thanks to the victory of Jamala with the song “1944” in Stockholm, Sweden. The 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is being held on the following dates:
- Semi Final 1 – 9 May
- Semi Final 2 – 11 May
- Final – 13 May
