Tonight: Estonia Selects The Twenty-Third Eurovision 2017 Entry

Tonight Estonia becomes the latest country to select their participant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Four countries are in action tonight as the second to last Eurovision selection weekend gets underway. In Estonia, it’s time to select the winner of Eesti Laul 2017 and the countries 22nd song in the Eurovision Song Contest since their debut in 1994. Also in action tonight are Sweden, Lithuania and Iceland.

Estonia – Eesti Laul 2017 – Final – 18:30 CET:

The Eesti Laul final will be broadcast live from Tallinn’s Saku Arena for the second year running, and will be hosted by Märt Avandi and Ott Sepp. Eurovision 2015 winner Måns Zelmerlöw and Estonian boyband Beyond Beyond will perform during the interval act of the show.

The winner will then be decided through a two-round voting system. The first round will be a 50-50 split between the jury and a televote, and the top three acts from this combined vote will progress to the superfinal. The votes will then be reset, and the superfinal results will be decided by a 100% televote.

The running order for the final is as follows:

Out of the ten finalists, five have participated in a past Eurovision. Four have represented Estonia itself – Ivo Linna (1996), Koit Toome (1998), Laura (2005 as part of Suntribe) and Elina Born (2015) – meanwhile Lenna Kuurmaa represented Switzerland as part of Vanilla Ninja in 2005.

Sweden – Melodifestivalen 2017 – Andra Chansen – 20:00 CET:

Tonight in Linköping, the famous ‘Andra Chansen’, or ‘Second Chance Round’ of Melodifestivalen 2017 Melodifestivalen 2017 will take place as eight artists go head to head with one another – one artist from each dual going to the final in Stockholm’s Friends Arena. In each of the four semi-finals that have taken place, two artists have qualified for this round (those that come third and fourth in each respective semi-final show).

Lithuania – “Eurovizijos” dainų konkurso nacionalinė atranka – Semi Final – 20:00 CET

It’s semi final night in Lithuania with eight singers competing for just six places in next weeks final.

The Lithuanian jury is comprised of LRT OPUS executives  Dalia Ibelhauptaitė and Darius Užkuraitis, musicologist and radio show host Ramūnas Zilnys, and singer Paul Meškėla. The international jury is comprised of three, as yet unconfirmed, producers.The remaining 50% shall come from the public televote.

The running order for the semi final and the results of the Lithuanian jury is as follows:

The final will be held on March 11 with at least six singers competing for the right to represent Lithuania at the 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv Ukraine.

Iceland – Söngvakeppnin – Semi Final Two – 20:45 CET

The second of the two semi finals in Iceland’s selections take place tonight, with six singers competing for just three places in the final.

After last weeks first semi final, the next six artists take to the stage competing for their place in next weeks final. All artists are required to sing in Icelandic in the semi-finals, while in the final it is up to the artist to decide whether they will perform in English or Icelandic.
