After the conclusion of two semi-finals, eight artists have been determined by 50% public televoting and 50% jury voting to progress to the Grand Final of Evrovizijska Melodija (EMA) which will be taking place on Friday 24th February.
The Grand Final will see the 2015 Slovenian representatives Maraaya compete as songwriters for two songs; BQL’s “Heart of Gold” which was also co-written by Anej Piletič and Nika Zorjan’s “Fse” who also co-wrote her own song. The 2005 representative Omar Naber who performed in Kyiv with “Stop” also successfully qualified on Friday night with his own song “On my way” and will be vying to represent his country once again. We also see EMA’s 2016 runner-up Raiven in contention again with the song “Zažarim” which is written by Jernej Kržič, Tadej Košir and Sara Briški Cirman.
The running order for Friday’s show is as follows. The show will begin with Sell Out and conclude with Raiven

The winner of EMA will be determined by 50% public televoting and 6 regional juries will make up the other 50% of the final vote.
Last year, Manuella was chosen as the Slovenian representative through EMA with the song “Blue and Red” which she co-wrote with Marjan Hvala and Leon Oblak. She failed to qualify for the Eurovision Grand Final in Stockholm and placed 14th with 57 points.

Since then, 19 series of the show have been aired on RTV SLO. The biggest EMA show took place in 2004 were 32 participants performed over 5 nights. In that year, Platin were the winners with “Stay Forever” who came 21st in the Eurovision semi-final in Istanbul, Turkey and hence failed to qualify for the grand final.[/tw-accordion-section] [tw-accordion-section title=”Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest”] Slovenia was one of three countries to join the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993. The country qualified through a specially organised selection round called “Kvalifikacija za Millstreet” which was hosted in Slovenia, seven countries competed for three spots in Eurovision 1993. The country has participated in 22 editions of the Eurovision Song Contest. Their best result came in 1995 when Darja Švajger finished 7th scoring a total of 84 points, she is closely followed by Nuša Derenda who finished 7th in the 2001 contest with 70 points.
