Albania: Song Revamp Nears Conclusion

Albania have revamped their Eurovision 2017 song “Botë”, now called “World”, and are in the nearing the final stages of song release.

Albania are currently working on revamping their selected song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine. The song was originally called “Botë” and was sung in Albanian. Now the confirmed title is “World”, which suggests that the song is now in sung in English. The instrumentation has also been recorded, as the composer Klodian Qafoku posted a video on his Facebook page.

The snippet is from the final version of the song. Albanian representative Lindita Halimi is currently in Albania, which suggests that she is recording the vocals of the song.

Lindita won the 55th edition of Festivali i Kenges, having beaten off competition in the final from 13 other singers. Lindita was born in Vitina, Kosovo in 1989 and has been performing as a singer since 2006. Since 2014 she has been living with her husband in the United States and went on to take part in American Idol, she made it through to the final 51 but did not make it through to the final 24.

Albania has a long tradition of changing the instrumentation and the language of the songs that win Festivali i Kenges. Unlike the Eurovision Song Contest, Festivali i Kenges does not have a rule regarding songs having to be three minutes or shorter. Furthermore the rules of Festivali i Kenges require all songs be performed in Albanian. Now we know that this year the song is being revamped into English for the Eurovision Song Contest.
