The official rules for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 have been released, with a new rule allowing change to how the televote and jury vote is weighted.
The ratio by which the public televote and the jury vote is open to change, as the EBU announces the rules for the 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Currently the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest is decided by 50% public televote and 50% jury voting. However new rules state that the ratio of how these points are decided is subject to change if approved by the Reference Group.
The announcement of these rules opens up the possibility of changes to the vote which were called for after the victory of Jamala and her song “1944”. Philip Kirkorov who was a member of the Russian delegation hit out against the jury system after the final of this years contest in Stockholm. At the time Mr Kirkorov suggested that the jury vote should only be weighted at 25% and giving the public a 75% say. Jamala managed to win this years contest despite not winning either the jury or the public televote.
The rules also confirmed that it is up to the host broadcaster, the EBU and the reference group as to how the voting will be presented. This year saw the jury voting presented by a spokesperson from each country who read only the 12 points. The televote vote was announced after the jury vote by the hosts, ascending from the smallest televote total to the highest.

Nooooo, please don’t! If you do this Eurovision will turn into what it used to be before 2009, full of circus and joke acts. Quality entries will be much less and they will have no chance to do well. Certain countries will always qualify no matter what they send, just because of neighbour and diaspora voting!
More power to televoters = Less creditable contest!
i agree! 50/50 is the best solution
It would be more fair..sure.
At least it should be 60% for televoters + 40% for the juries.
Juries consist of 200+ people while televoters are over 20 millions.
I think it should be 60& televoters, because the jury can manipulate too much now and now the televote hasn’t much impact on the winner anymore
