The Czech Republic will decide on whether they will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine this week.
Martin Brož of the Czech delegation at the Eurovision Song Contest has informed escportal.cz that a decision will be made this week on 2017 participation. The Czech Republic is currently one of 14 countries who participated in last years contest in Stockholm who have not publicly stated whether they are participating in Eurovision 2017.
The Czech Republic first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 and went on to participate for a further two years until 2009. The country failed to qualify from any of the semi finals, scoring just 10 points over their three appearances in the contest. In 2015 the Czech Republic returned to the contest represented by Marta Jandova & Vaclav Noid Barta, they finished 13th in their semi final. At the 2016 contest the Czech Republic made their first final represented by Gabriela Gunčíková and the song “I Stand”, they finished 25th in the final with 41 points.
To date a total of 28 countries have confirmed that they will be participating in the 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. Portugal has announced they will be returning after one year away, while no countries have announced their intention to withdraw from the contest.

So is it hard to decide for them?I’m scared about this
Please, keep participating and you will be successful one day!
Furthermore, if both Czech Republic and Slovakia participate they will support each other and they will have more chances of qualifying!
I have a feeling they will withdraw again though. 🙁
Please participate next year !! This year’s entry was one of my favorites and I was very happy that they made to the final !!! Do that again please !!!
I didn’t know that the decision it’s so hard for czech participation :/
Why would they withdraw after they got to there 1st final? Did they just want to get to the final for the 1st time and then withdraw forever? It makes no sense and it should be a definite ‘yes’ on participation
I agree but they don’t seem to think that way…
I let out a huge “Jaaaaa!” (Yes) when the Czech Republic qualified for the first time this year. I really hope that they will keep participating. Once again, have a look at Bulgaria; didn’t qualify on their first attempt but got fourth this year. And that’s a win for such a country as Bulgaria. Czechs, keep participating and you’ll reach succes one day. That’s a promise.
CEKIA AND CR…IA OUT
i hope they participate again! i loved their 2015 and 2016 entries!
I think they will participate. It would be very surprising if they didn’t. 😀
They had confirmed their participation today!
