ESC’17: Dnipro Will Fight For The Right To Host

Dnipro has stated that they will fight for the right to host Eurovision 2017 despite strong competition from Kyiv and Lviv.

Mayor of Dnipro, Borys Filatov told the Ukrainian press in an interview this morning that the city will fight for the right to host the contest despite issues with infrastructure. Mr Filatov stated that he is working with the Governor of the region adding:

We have a governor is an understanding that this is a good and sensible idea. Such measures – a useful thing for the development of urban infrastructure, for businesses, for rebranding.

The city according to the Mayor faces two issues in hosting the contest, the airport and the venue for the contest. The Dnipropetrovsk International Airport needs work to develop a new passenger terminal, this work has been delayed since 2011. While the Dnipro-Arena requires the construction of a roof to be eligible to host the contest.

Mr Filatov argues that Kyiv and Lviv have been promoted enough by the Government over the years and that Dnipro can be the new face of Ukraine to the world.
