It’s the second semi final of the 61st Eurovision Song Contest tonight and another eight countries will be left behind, but who does the betting odds have going out tonight?
18 – Switzerland:
Switzerland are being represented by Rykka and the “Last Of Our Kind”. Switzerland has not made it to the final since 2014 and last year finished last with just 4 points. If Switzerland finish last again tonight it will be the worst run of results in the contest that Switzerland has had.
17 – Albania:
Eneda Tarifa will be hoping for a “Fairytale” tonight if the odds are anything to by. Last year in Vienna, Albania made it through to their first final since 2012 with Elhaida Dani and “I’m Alive”. This year Albania has failed to win over the betting public and looks unlikely to make it two years in a row in the final.
16 – Slovenia:
After two years of making the final, ManuElla is predicted to miss out on the 61st Eurovision Song Contest. ManuElla is performing “Blue and Red” tonight in Stockholm, the song and her appearance has been compared to the music star Taylor Swift. Slovenia are performing after Australia tonight and before Bulgaria.
15 – Ireland:
Ireland may be in for a shock tonight. Nicky Byrne former member of the boy band Westlife may not be bringing Eurovision’s most successful country back to the final. Ireland last made the final of the contest when it was held in Sweden in 2013. Nicky Byrne was internally selected by RTE with the song “Sunlight”, however hopes of qualification are not looking good with the country 15th in the odds.
14 – Belarus:
Ivan is performing “Help You Fly” tonight on the Globen stage, but the bookies says we’ll only be seeing him once this year. Belarus are performing 5th tonight after Israel and before Serbia. Last year in Vienna, Belarus finished in 12th place in their semi final. Belarus has only ever made it through to the final when the contest has been hosted in the Nordics, tonight may end that run.
13 – Denmark:
Neighbours of this years host nation Sweden, Denmark may be on for another year of not making the final. Lighthouse X are performing “Soldiers of Love” in the second semi final tonight, they are on stage 13th tonight. Denmark has never failed to make the final of the Eurovision Song Contest two years in a row. The last time two times contest has been held in Sweden, Denmark has gone on to win the contest.
12 – Macedonia:
Kaliopi returns to the Eurovision stage tonight with “Dona”. It’s four years since she represented Macedonia at Eurovision and its also four years since they last made the final. As it stands the Macedonian music star is predicted to be left behind in the semi finals. If Macedonia fail to make the final again this year it will be the countries worst run of non-qualifications since 2008-2011.
11 – Norway:
Since our article earlier this evening Norway has been knocked out of the qualification spots by Georgia. Agnete is hoping to take “Icebreaker” through to the final tonight, if Norway fails to make it through alongside Denmark, Sweden will be the only Nordic nation left in the contest. Norway last missed the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 when Stella Mwangi performed “Haba Haba”.
