Refresh the page for updates from this afternoon’s rehearsals. This article covers Azerbaijan, Montenegro, Iceland, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Malta and Sweden.

Azerbaijan – “Miracle”, Samra

Samra looks pretty in white, but needs to work on her vocals; source: EBU, Andres Putting
  • Samra is joined on stage by four backing singers/dancers; the performance seems a little over-choreographed
  • They have a simple firey background
  • The vocals definitely need work
  • Take a look at a preview of Azerbaijan’s performance below:

Montenegro – “The Real Thing”, Highway

Dark and impressive staging for Montenegro; source: EBU, Andres Putting
  • The stage is very dark, with moody lighting
  • The dancer from the music video also appears on stage
  • Some interesting, close up camera shots
  • Vocally not the strongest, but overall visually impressive

Iceland – “Hear Them Calling”, Greta Salóme

A slight revamp for Iceland; source: EBU, Andres Putting
  • Greta has brought the same staging from the national final, however the screen has been revamped slightly to include more icy colours – conceptually, little has changed
  • Greta’s outfit has also been updated – more fringing and more leather!
  • Atmospheric use of flashing lights
  • Vocally very strong
  • Take a look at a preview of Iceland’s performance below:

Bosnia & Herzegovina – “Ljubav je”, Dalal & Deen feat. Ana Rucner and Jala

An interesting use of razor wire from Bosnia & Herzegovina; source: EBU, Andres Putting
  • Quite a political concept for Bosnia & Herzegovina – they are joined on stage by some razor wire which separates Deen and Dalal; the staging is supposed to represent the refugee crisis
  • Ana was initially wearing a silver, mirrored cape, which she ditched in later rehearsals
  • Overall a very strong performance
  • Take a look at a preview of Bosnia & Herzegovina’s performance below:

Malta – “Walk on Water”, Ira Losco

A Eurovision first from Malta; EBU, Andres Putting
  • Ira wears a brown coat which shows projections on it – the performance will feature full 360 degree projections, which will be a Eurovision first
  • The coat is discarded during the performance
  • Vocals are tight, and the visuals are stunning
  • Take a look at a preview of Malta’s performance below:

Sweden – “If I Were Sorry”, Frans

A simple but effective performance from the hosts; source: EBU, Andres Putting
  • Frans’ staging is pretty much the same as in the national final – he is alone on a dark stage, and stands in front of a screen which lights up with words and stars during the performance
  • An understated but effective performance – should stand out amongst the bigger, more technical performances this year
  • The outfit is pretty casual – just a simple t-shirt, jeans and jacket
  • Take a look at a preview of Sweden’s performance below:

That’s it for day 2 of rehearsals! Join us again tomorrow from 10:00 CET when we’ll be following the rehearsals of Latvia, Poland, Switzerland, Israel, Belarus, Serbia, Ireland, Macedonia, Lithuania and Australia.
