David brings “Rays of Sunlight” to DMGP 2016

The final of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2016 is tonight from 20:00 CET and ahead of the show we caught up with David Jay. David is hoping to bring “Rays of Sunlight” to the Horsens stage as he competes in the final tonight.

It’s a pleasure to be able to speak to you, how are preparations going for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2016?

Thank you guys for allowing me this opportunity, and thanks for helping me tell my story. My preparations are actually better then expected and are finally a lot more comfortable in the whole stage setting and show.So i’m still very excited to perform with the team.

Now for those who don’t know much about you can tell us how you got into music and what your style is?

I started as a DJ, and later move on to Hosting/MC at events and as support act for different acts. That led me to pursue the process of being an artist, proving to myself that I could write, record and do a video for my first project released. I’ve always been a sucker for soul/rnb but grew up on all genres of music, is more off a mood thing for me when it comes to music.

Last year you released your second album what was it like working on that project?

I’m an artist that’s in love with the process of things, and getting things done, that to me is first and foremost the biggest success. But besides that It was another great learning experience for me, and it taught me to never get to high or to low in this situations – like i always say ”Head To Sky – Feet On The Ground”

Moving onto DMGP what made you submit a song for the contest?

I was contacted by one of the musical directors who I had met maybe a year before, he asked if I was interested in singing a demo on a song for DMGP, I was honored by the fact the I was even considered for the demo so obviously my answer was yes. The demo came out great and all else has just been a blessing since then, and now we ready to give 150% on feb 13th.

The song is called “Rays of Sunlight” can you tell us more about it?

The song tells a story about the feeling when you first meet someone and the feeling is amazing, and like my own music it has a positive message with a beat that allows everyone to just dance and have fun with their loved ones.

Your song is written by Bryan Rice and Christoffer Stjerne, Bryan has tried to represent Denmark on a number of ocassions, what has it been like working with Bryan and Christoffer?

Working with thoes guys has been a blessing, both very talented together and individually and off course very experienced gentlemen in Eurovision context. Couldn’t ask for a better team.

What can we expect from your performance in DMGP?

High energy, positive vibes and hopefully the song that can help people just let go and enjoy the moment and be thankful for all that we got.

Finally do you have a message for your fans and the readers of Eurovoix.com?
