With the Austrian selection just over two weeks we will be bringing you interviews with a number of the hopefuls. We start off with Vincent Bueno who may be familiar to Austrian fans for having won a TV talent show in 2008, we also talk about is his move to the Philippines and his 2015.
It’s a pleasure to be able to talk to you, we’re just under a month away from the final of the Austrian selection how are you feeling?
I am certainly feeling a little bit nervous, it reminds me a lot of the feeling 8 years ago. But rather than that I am full of gladness being a part of something so amazing.
The Austrian public already know you from when you won “Musical! Die Show”, what was that experience like for you and how did it affect you as a performer?
8 years ago I had the opportunity to be the Winner of the Musical Die Show. It had opened doors for my career and given me other possibilities to explore my crafts on different aspects being an artist. When you’re 21 and one of a sudden you’ve been given so much attention at once, it can affect you on a personal level. I wasn’t stable in any kind of form that’s why I was fighting some times of depression. But artistically and personally it was important for me to experience all these extremes, because those times paved the way to the person I am today.
In 2010 you went to the Philippines where your parents are from to launch a career, how was it like trying to create a career outside of Austria?
It was pretty different but exciting at once. I literally had a big culture shock even if I am a filipino, the culture was still something new for me. I was born and raised up in Europe that’s why some things were just too much to handle for me. But looking back at my career in the philippines, I only have good memories and I’m glad to have met such inspiring and talented people. I also got to know my wife there, which was I think the main reason why I was there.
What was it that drew you towards submitting a song into the Austrian Eurovision selection?
Everything happened so naturally. To make a long story short: A friend asked some one from radio if they could play my song. He said I can open the door for the pre-selection of the “Who is going to sing for Austria”. Then the rest was just happening.
Your song is titled “All We Need Is That Love” can you tell us more about it?
It is such a simple sentence but so crucial. At the end of the day we all need love. It is a song I want to dedicate to all humanity because of a high need and a lack of that real love.
You had a challenging and tough 2015, how much of this is reflected in the song?
It was indeed challenging after losing our daughter Samantha. My whole family was tested at that time, but we just supported and loved each other even more. Same with her, all she wanted is to be loved. No matter if she felt that love only for one and a half hours, it was so worth it.
To be able to take to the stage on February 12 and perform your song in front of millions of viewers, how does that feel?
Right now I try to stay calm and focused. But I’m sure whenever the stage rehearsals are starting, then the emotions and the excitement is going to kick in like a drug.
Finally do you have a message for the readers of Eurovoix.com and your fans?
