Eurovision’s smallest competing nation San Marino is provisionally confirmed as participating in next years Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, Sweden.
The Head of Delegation for San Marino, Alessandro Capicchioni confirmed that the broadcaster had submitted provisional papers to participate in the competition in 2016. He said in an interview on SMRTV that the broadcaster has not fully confirmed for the competition yet, the General Director of the channel is still going over every proposal before making a final decision.
It does however seem that the broadcaster has received a number of proposals from singers to participate in the competition in Stockholm on behalf of San Marino. He said that:
We don’t have a national final therefore we have to assume the full responsibility of our choices, that’s why the SMRTV will choose among those candidates whom will appear to be more solid, prestigious and valuable, with important partners and productions who will enable us to engage with such an important international challenge.
A total of 37 countries are now provisionally confirmed for Eurovision 2016.
