Ukraine: Change To JESC Selection Finalists

NTU the national broadcaster of Ukraine has removed one of the participants due to their song being a cover. It was discovered that Polina Ryzhak’s song “Tse Ukraina” was a cover of Miley Cyrus’ 2006 song “Nobody’s Perfect”. Polina has now been replaced by the group “Fresh” who had ended 21st in the original semi final.

Mykhailo Nekrasov who headed the jury in the semi final said that:

Polina Ryzhak is, of course, a talented young, artist but when it comes to the image of Ukraine in an international competition, we have to react on such situations as it is unacceptable. At the same time, we admit that a young artist could have become a victim of the song composer’s unfair action.
