SVT have released the rules for singers and songwriters wishing to take part in Melodifestivalen 2013. This is the first time that a Swede has the opportunity to represent Sweden on their home soil since 2000.
From the 3rd to the 17th of September songwriters can upload songs onto the SVT website as part of a “Public Contest”, one of the songs will be chosen to go through to Melodifestivalen. These songs must be written by composers and songwriters who has not previously had their work publish. Another 15 songs will be chosen through a “Regular Contest”, this is open to those who have had their work published before. The final 16 songs will be invited by SVT to take part in the contest. This means that the “Web Joker” round will not take place this year.
