Baku’12: Analysis of 14th to 10th Place

A Top.10 At Last!

So we are halfway through our analysis of last nightโ€™s result so we are now up to the countries that ranked from 14th to 10th last night. So letโ€™s go:

14th: Lithuania โ€“ Donny Montell โ€“ Love Is Blind (70 points)

I donโ€™t think anyone was expecting Lithuania to do this well, Donnyโ€™s performance was interesting to say the least, never again should someone be allowed to dance like that. Lithuania managed their best result in the contest since 2006, itโ€™s their 3rd best ever in the 13 appearances they have made at the contest. Lithuania were an outside chance going into the contest so 14th place is a brilliant result.

13th: FYR Macedonia โ€“ Kaliopi โ€“ Crno i Belo (71 points)

FYR Macedonia came smack bang in the middle of the board, they managed their second best result ever in the contest and will over joyed at their performance. They managed to get 2 sets of 12s and showed that the English language is not needed to get onto the left hand side of the board. The performance last night is also something that FYR Macedonia should be happy with.

12th: Romania โ€“ Mandinga โ€“ Zalielah (71 points)

Romania will be happy with their result last night it is an improvement of 4 places over 2010. The song itโ€™s self was a summer dance number that was quite catchy, the staging was good as well. It did receive points from 13 countries but Romania were expecting just a bit more from Mandinga.

11th: Moldova โ€“ Pasha Parfeny โ€“ Lautar (81 points)

Moldova will be over the moon with last nightโ€™s performance, they closed the show in style and provided a great stage show. They also managed their third best result in the contest ever. The song itself did have a lot of appeal, they may also be in shock from getting 8 from San Marino. Anyway Moldova will be wanting to go forward and build on the result.

10th: Spain โ€“ Pastora Soler โ€“ Quedate Comingo (97 points)

Spain will be so pleased with last night, not only did they get their best result in 8 years but broke a run of results that saw them finish no higher than 15th. Pastora had an amazing voice and the song was just perfection, Pastora has shown what has to be done to achieve success in the contest and TVE will be looking to next year and thinking of ways to improve their result.
