Palestine Withdrew As A Political Protest

It has emerged that a total of 4 countries have withdrawn from participating in this years ABU Radio Song Festival which is currently taking place in Myanmar.

The countries that withdrew from participating were; Malaysia, Pakistan, Palestine and Sri Lanka. Pakistan withdrew due to their singer Shakeel Mahota not being able to get time off from work at the Foreign Ministry in Pakistan. While Palestine withdrew from the contest in protest to the treatment of the Muslim population in Myanmar, their singer Dalal Abu Amneh issued a full statement on her Facebook page.

The reason for Sri Lanka and Malaysia’s withdrawal is not known.

  2. To Sri Lanka: Maybe these too children were too young?! I don’t know the ABU’s rules for its festivals, but there will be compareable rules like at the EBU.
