SRG SSR, the Swiss national broadcaster, has confirmed the country’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027.
SRG SSR confirmed today that Switzerland will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Bulgaria. The application window period to submit an entry on the platform srf.ch/eurovision will be open from August 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM local time until September 7, 2026, at 11:00 PM local time.
The broadcaster also confirmed that their representative will be chosen through an internal selection, as has been the case since 2019. This process combines the assessments of a national and international expert jury with an international Eurovision Song Contest fan jury, both being deliberately made younger to meet the current requirements of the EBU. The broadcaster also explains that the process will be supplemented by AI-supported analysis.

Our goal remains unchanged. We want to find songs and artists that are internationally compelling and, at the same time, authentically represent Switzerland. To achieve this, we are continuously developing our processes – based on our experience, with new ideas and modern tools.
Due to a strategic realignment of the SUISA Songwriting Camp, SRG SSR will be running the Eurovision Songwriting Camps Switzerland 2026 twice – one in Switzerland, and one with an international focus. The aim of the broadcaster is to bring together international songwriters, artists, and producers with Swiss creatives, while simultaneously opening up access to international networks for Swiss talent.
Finally, Lasse Nymann has been announced as the person responsible for the expanded artist and song search. The Norwegian songwriter and producer was part of the international team behind “The Code” by Nemo, which won the Eurovision Song Contest for Switzerland in Malmö in 2024. Nymann will be taking over from Pele Loriano after 12 years.
Veronica Fusaro represented Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with “Alice”, but failed to qualify for the final. She narrowly missed out in a place in the final having placed 9th with both the public and the jury, but was 14 points away from a place in the final.

Switzerland hosted the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 in Lugano, a contest that they also won. Lys Assia won the first contest with the song “Refrain”. It wasn’t until 1988 that Switzerland would win the contest again. Celine Dion won with “Ne partez pas sans moi” in Dublin. She beat the United Kingdom to victory by just 1 point. Switzerland won for a third time in 2024, represented by Nemo with “The Code”.
