RTVE, the Spanish national broadcaster, has revealed that 870 songs have been submitted for Benidorm Fest 2026.
A total of 870 songs have been submitted for Benidorm Fest 2026. Of the 870 submissions, 350 were submitted within the last 24 hours of the submission window.
The selection committee will now review all of the submissions and select at least 16 songs to compete in Benidorm Fest 2026. If the submission quality is high enough, up to 20 songs may be selected. A further six reserve songs will be selected, in case any of the selected songs need to be withdrawn.
Benidorm Fest 2026 will consist of two semi-finals on February 10 and 12 and a final on February 14. If Spain participates in Eurovision 2026, the winner of Benidorm Fest 2026 will represent the country in Vienna. RTVE has stated that it will not participate in Eurovision 2026 if Israel does and that Benidorm Fest 2026 will take place regardless.
Melody represented Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with “Esa diva”. She finished 24th in the Grand Final, scoring 37 points. 27 points came from the jury and 10 from the public vote.

Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest
Spain debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961 and has competed annually since, making them the longest participating country that has never withdrawn. Spain has won the contest on two occasions. The first time was in 1968, when Massiel sang “La la la”. and the second time was in 1969, when Salomé sang “Vivo cantando”. 1969 is the only year where more than one song has won the contest. The 1969 contest saw a four-way tie between Spain, France, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
