The title of the song that Nicolas Alves will perform for Portugal at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 has been revealed.
“Anos 70” (The seventies) is the title of the song that will represent Portugal at the 20th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Nicolas Alves’ song for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 has been written by Carolina Deslandes.
RTP has not confirmed when the song will be released but will be making a further announcement regarding Junior Eurovision on November 7.
Nicolas Alves is 13 years old and originally from the United Kingdom, he moved to Portugal at the age of 10 years old. Nicolas was part of Carolina Deslandes and had received 3 yes’ from the judges in the auditions round. In the final of The Voice Kids Portugal, he performed “Beggin’”.
Last year Portugal was represented by Simão Oliveira with “O Rapaz” at Junior Eurovision 2021, he finished `11th with 101 points. This is the best result to date for Portugal in the competition and saw Portugal place third in the online vote.

Portugal debuted at the 2006 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Budapest, Romania. The country placed second-last that year and the year later, before withdrawing in 2008. They were not to return until 2017 where they were represented by Mariana Venancio, who placed 14th with her song “YouTuber”. In 2021, they finished in 11th, their best placing to date.
