The Mayorโs Office in Kyiv has confirmed that the Ukrainian capital Kyiv is ready to host Eurovision 2023 should it be asked.
The Ukrainian Capital, Kyiv is the first Ukrainian city to state it is ready to host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023, should Ukraine be able to host the contest. Mykola Povoroznyk, the First Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration told Siohodni that:
We are ready to host Eurovision.ย We have all the infrastructure prepared for this.ย I think it is inexpedient to build something new, we will focus on what we already have โ in a year, in the current conditions, it is quite difficult to build something new.ย If the organizers trust us, we will hold a competition at a high international level.
Kyiv has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest twice and the Junior Eurovision Song Contest twice. In 2016 it was chosen as the host city for the 2017 contest following a public competition in which Dnipro, Kharkiv, Kherson, Lviv and Odesa also bid.
UA:PBC and the EBU will meet last week to discuss hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Ukraine. Should UA:PBC feel that they are unable to host the contest, several other countries have stated that they could step in to host instead. These countries are:
