The Chairman of TVP has stated that the Polish broadcaster TVP is willing to help Ukraine in hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.
Speaking to Plejada, Mr. Jacek Kurski explained that TVP is willing to help Ukraine organise Eurovision 2023, but that matters would need to be discussed with the Polish Government before any commitment can be made. He explained that:
There is always a willingness to help, but there are also procedures that bind us as a State Treasury company, a public company, we are disciplined here, and therefore I cannot make promises except generally good will in this matter.
To date, the city of Stockholm in Sweden has stated its willingness to host, with SVT yet to comment on the matter. While Icelandic media has also reported that RÚV views the potential to host the 2023 contest positively. In addition, RTVE of Spain has confirmed it has expressed its willingness to co-host the 2023 contest to the EBU. It is currently too early to know where next year’s contest will be held.
Mr. Kurski also confirmed that Poland will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, stating his support for the competition and aim for greater success in Eurovision, following two victories in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
Ochman finished 12th in the Grand Final for Poland with the song “River”. This is the best result for Poland in the competition since 2016 when Michał Szpak placed 8th in Stockholm.

Poland debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 alongside a number of other Eastern European countries. Their debut year saw their best result to date, as Edyta Gorniak finished in 2nd place with her song “To nie ja!”. Following this, Poland failed to repeat this initial success, managing a top 10 placing on only one other occasion during their initial 1994-2011 run in the contest. In 2012, following a string of non-qualifications, Poland withdrew from the contest due to financial difficulties. Since their return in 2014, they have been considerably more successful in the contest, having qualified for the final for every year up to 2017.
