Overall a total of 737,000 viewers watched the final Melodi Grand Prix 2022 live on NRK 1, a drop of 373,000 viewers compared to last year.
Reported viewing data shows 737,000 viewers watched the final Melodi Grand Prix 2022 live on NRK 1 down by 373,000 viewers compared to the 2021 final. The figures reported mean that Saturday nightโs final was the least seen since 2014 when 755,000 viewers the show. During the course of this years edition of Melodi Grand Prix the viewing interest in the contest has been lower than last year.

In a statement about this yearโs viewing figures Head of Delegation Stig Karlsen stated the following:
โOur biggest competitor is our own success. We are measured against last year and some very good years for MGP. We can not break records every season. The competition for a reopened nightlife is naturally and pleasingly tough. Maybe the winter holidays have also stolen some viewers. Despite lower ratings, we still experience a great deal of commitment around Norwayโs largest music show,โ
Subwoolfer won this yearโs Melodi Grand Prix and will now represent Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in May.

Norway debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960 and have won the contest three times โ in 1985, 1995 and 2009. The country has the dubious record of finishing last the most times, eleven in total, and have received nul points four times. Norway last won the contest in 2009 when Alexander Rybak broke all records with his song โFairytaleโ. He scored 387 points in the final, receiving 16 sets of 12 points and scoring points from every country.
