The first details of Akordet e Kosovës, the show that RTK hopes will serve as a future Eurovision and Junior Eurovision selection, have been revealed.

The Board of RTK has agreed to the format of Akordet e Kosovës. The show will be a three night contest featuring one night for children and two nights for adult performers. The competition is planned to be held at the 1 Tetori Sports Hall in Prishtina, during the second week of October.

It has been confirmed that the Ministry of Culture of Kosovo will allocate 400,000 Euros towards the organisation of the competition. That funding will be split into 100,000 Euros for lighting, 70,000 Euros for scenography and 20,000 for graphics.

It was announced at the end of May that Akordet e Kosovës will be organised for the first time in decades, after an agreement was signed by the Ministry of Culture of Kosovo and RTK.RTK stated on signing the agreement that the competition would serve as a national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest and the Junior Eurovision Song Contest should the broadcaster gain full membership of the European Broadcasting Union.

Kosovo and its broadcaster RTK remain ineligible to compete in the Eurovision or Junior Eurovision Song Contest due to a lack of full European Broadcasting Union membership. Membership is currently unlikely due to a lack of consistent international recognition, which stops Council of Europe membership.

Acting Director General of RTK, Zana Spahiu, has continued discussions with the European Broadcasting Union on the broadcaster gaining membership of the organisation. The broadcaster was not successful in gaining EBU member at the latest EBU General Assembly in June.

Kosovo is one of a number of countries currently interested in competing in the Eurovision Song Contest and has previously competed in a Eurovision contest. In 2011, Kosovo competed in Eurovision Young Dancers in Oslo, find out more below:
