Veronica Fusaro has commented on a challenging first rehearsal in Vienna, after issues were experienced with the prop for her performance of “Alice”.

SRF reports that the Swiss representative had a challenging first day at the Wiener Stadthalle, as she took to the Eurovision Song Contest stage for the first time. The Swiss broadcaster explained that within their 30 minute time slot, Veronica Fusaro was only able to perform twice due to the challenges with the prop in her performance. It states that there were issues setting up the prop, which is formed of net walls and ropes on stage. Veronica told SRF that:

“It’s a bit frustrating when things don’t work out that aren’t my fault,”

Following the rehearsal, as with all delegations, they had the opportunity to review their performance and give feedback to provide a chance for further changes in their second rehearsal on Friday. The Swiss performance has been staged by Benke Rydman, with Luigi Gaballo styling Veronica’s appearance.

Veronica Fusaro was selected to represent Switzerland at Eurovision 2026, having applied three times to represent the country. She and “Alice” were chosen through a multi-stage internal selection process. Veronica Fusaro will perform “Alice” in slot 7 in the second semi-final on May 14. Find out more about Veronica below:

Switzerland hosted the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 in Lugano, a contest that they also won. Lys Assia won the first contest with the song “Refrain”. It wasn’t until 1988 that Switzerland would win the contest again. Celine Dion won with “Ne partez pas sans moi” in Dublin. She beat the United Kingdom to victory by just 1 point. Switzerland won for a third time in 2024, represented by Nemo with “The Code”.
