Helsinki and Tampere have announced they are interested in hosting Eurovision 2027 if Finland wins Eurovision 2026 in May.

Ahead of Eurovision 2026, two of Finland’s biggest cities have announced their interest in hosting the 2027 edition of the contest should Finland win in May. At the time of publishing, Finland is the bookies’ favourite to win the contest and would win the right to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 should it win. The cities of Helsinki, the capital of Finland, and Tampere have both stated they would be interested. Both cities have experience with Eurovision, with Helsinki having hosted the contest in 2007 and Tampere having hosted UMK, the Finnish national selection, since 2024.

Liisa Kivelรค, Communications Director at the City of Helsinki, stated:

“The Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki in 2007 after Lordi’s victory brought tens of thousands of domestic and international guests to Helsinki. We have a great city and the setting for organising major events is in order.”

Helsinki, which hosted the contest in 2007, has shown interest with a statement from city hall, with the city also adding it was looking into possible victory celebrations in the Market Square area of the city. Mirkka Rautala, the Chief Operating Officer at Live Nation, the company responsible for events at the Veikkaus Arena, has stated that the arena is constantly thinking about the calendar of planned events but cannot publicly comment if any time has been set aside at this moment. Veikkaus Arena hosted Eurovision 2007, when the arena was called the Hartwall Arena.

Tampere, Finland’s second largest city, has also shown interest in hosting the contest in 2027. Perttu Pesรค, who acts as the city’s event director, has stated Nokia Arena would be a possible venue for a bid. He added that the city is confident that there is enough hotel space for the contest visitors. Marko Hurme, the CEO of Nokia Arena, has also confirmed that the arena would be ready to host the contest. Nokia Arena has hosted UMK since 2024.

At this time, Yle, the Finnish national broadcaster, has stated that they are focused on preparing for Eurovision 2026 and has not given any details regarding hosting plans for 2027. Johanna Tรถrn-Mangs, Executive Editor-in-Chief of Yle’s Culture and Affairs Department, stated:

“At this stage, Yle is preparing for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna, where we will surely have a great performance coming up.”

Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkonen were selected to represent Finland at Eurovision 2026 after winning UMK 2026. They won both the jury and public votes, and broke the record for the highest score ever received from the public vote and overall. They will perform seventh in Semi-Final One on May 12.
