At a press conference held today, ORF has announced more details of the role the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra will play in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.
The ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra was formed in 1969 and will record the official theme music for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. The theme music is being created by Dorothee Freiberger and Martin Gellner and is an interpretation of themes from Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”.
The Orchestra is set to play during the opening for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna. In addition, they will also be present at the Opening Ceremony for the competition, which will be held at the Rathausplatz on May 10.
Eurovision 2026
The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 will be held in Vienna following JJ’s victory for Austria with “Wasted Love” in Basel. 35 countries are set to take part. Both semi-finals are scheduled for May 12 and 14, while the Grand Final will take place on May 16. The contest will be hosted in the Wiener Stadthalle, the same venue used in 2015, which can accommodate up to 16,000 spectators.
The 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Vienna on May 12, 14, and 16, 2026.
