Today, the participants in Latvia’s Eurovision selection will be announced, casting commences in San Marino, while Iceland closes song submissions for Söngvakeppnin.
🇱🇻 Latvia: Supernova 2026 – Participants Announcement – 07:30 CET
LSM will reveal the acts that will compete to represent Latvia at the 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest this morning.
From 124 songs that have been submitted to the broadcaster, a total of 20 participants will compete in Supernova 2026. They have been chosen by a jury that assessed the songs originality, arrangement, message and compliance with modern market trends. In addition, the jury has also looked at the performer’s vocal abilities, potential to compete internationally, and previous music industry achievements.
Supernova’s format for the 2026 contest has changed compared to previous years. The semi-finals will take place on January 31 and February 7, while the final will take place on February 14. Across the two semi-finals, 10 entries will qualify for the final. A wildcard can also be awarded to one entry that did not originally qualify for the final, enabling 11 entries to compete in the final.
🇸🇲 San Marino: Dreaming San Marino Song Contest – Casting – Day One
Today, in-person casting for the Sammarinese selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 will commence.
Casting commences today in San Marino for the Dreaming San Marino Song Contest. As was the case previously, only singers from San Marino, Italy, Switzerland, France, Austria, and Slovenia will need to attend casting in person. Those from further abroad can request an online casting if they do not wish to attend casting in person.

🇮🇸 Iceland: Söngvakeppnin 2026 – Song Submissions Close
Today is the last day for songs to be submitted to compete in Söngvakeppnin 2026.
Icelandic singers and songwriters have until midnight tonight to submit their songs for Söngvakeppnin 2026. Song submissions had previously been extended until after a vote was originally due to be held on Israel’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in November.
Should Iceland compete in Eurovision 2026, the winner of Söngvakeppnin 2026 will represent Iceland in Vienna.
