LSM has announced that 124 songs have been submitted to compete in Supernova 2026.
A total of 124 songs have been submitted to compete in the Latvian selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. The number of songs submitted is up by 28 songs compared to 2025. Agnese ล trause-Kubliลa, Head of Entertainment and Documentary Content at LTV, commented:
I’m glad that musicians appreciate Supernova. There are more songs than last year, which shows that the desire to bring Latvia’s name to the world, the Eurovision audience in the millions, and the achievements so far have obviously encouraged many to apply. In addition, the variety of genres is very wide – from country music to energetic rock compositions. Viewers will have the opportunity to experience exciting shows. Thank you to everyone for their hard work!
The 124 songs submitted will now be evaluated by a jury to select the songs that will go through to the live shows. The jury will assess the songs originality, arrangement, message and compliance with modern market trends. In addition, they will look at the performer’s vocal abilities, potential to compete internationally, and previous music industry achievements.
Supernovaโs format for the 2026 contest has changed compared to previous years. The semi-finals will take place on January 31 and February 7, while the final will take place on February 14. Across the two semi-finals, 10 entries will qualify for the final. A wildcard can also be awarded to one entry that did not originally qualify for the final, enabling 11 entries to compete in the final.

Latvia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000, being the last of the Baltic nations to join the contest. On their debut, Brainstorm finished in 3rd place with the song โMy Starโ. Latvia won the contest for the first time in 2002, with Marie Nโs โI Wannaโ. Latvia only participated in 2002 thanks to the withdrawal of Portugal from the contest, as Latviaโs poor result in 2001 had relegated them from the 2002 contest. Latvia struggled in the contest after 2002, failing to qualify for the final for six years in a row between 2009 and 2014. After a non-qualification streak that lasted 7 years, Latvia eventually qualified in 2024 with Dons and โHollowโ
