Host broadcaster for Switzerland of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, SRG SSR has released its ratings for the semi-finals.
The first semi-final on May 13 which had the theme ‘Where it All Began’, had 552,000 viewers watch the two-and-a-half-hour show on SRG channels, with 605,000 tuning in at peak times. The broadcast had achieved a market share of 43% on SRF1, 34% in French-speaking Switzerland on RTS1 and 39% in Italian-speaking Switzerland on RSI LA1.
The second semi-final on May 15 had the theme ‘Eurovision Fans – a Party for Everyone’, with an average of 594,000 viewers tuning in to SRG channels, 42,000 more viewers than the first semi-final. In German-speaking Switzerland, it was noted that many more younger viewers had tuned in to watch the second semi-final, recording an increase of 29%.
SRG SSR were the host broadcaster of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. Switzerland is unique in the Eurovision Song Contest for having three channels air the contest, SRF for German speakers, RTS for French speakers and RSI for Italian speakers.

Switzerland hosted the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 in Lugano, a contest that they also won. Lys Assia won the first contest with the song “Refrain”. It wasn’t until 1988 that Switzerland would win the contest again. Celine Dion won with “Ne partez pas sans moi” in Dublin, she beat the United Kingdom to victory by just 1 point. Switzerland won for a third time in 2024, represented by Nemo with “The Code”.
