Today, the first rehearsals for the 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest commence in Basel, Switzerland.
The Eurovision Song Contest is officially back in Switzerland for the first time since 1989, as first rehearsals commence in Basel this morning. First rehearsals see each country given a 40-minute slot on stage to rehearse their entry, allowing for multiple runs through of their performance.
Delegations first submitted their staging plans to the contest organisers in March, with stand-in rehearsals taking place during the past week to enable some pre-first rehearsal changes. Unlike previous years, there will be no video footage released of the rehearsals. Instead, only three approved images will be released of each performance.
While the exact list of countries performing today has not been announced, it is expected that the first seven countries in Semi-Final One will rehearse:
- 🇮🇸 Iceland: VÆB – “Róa”
- 🇵🇱 Poland: Justyna Steczkowska – “Gaja”
- 🇸🇮 Slovenia: Klemen – “How Much Time Do We Have Left?”
- 🇪🇪 Estonia: Tommy Cash – “Espresso macchiato”
- 🇺🇦 Ukraine: Ziferblat – “Bird of Pray”
- 🇸🇪 Sweden: KAJ – “Bara bada bastu”
- 🇵🇹 Portugal: NAPA – “Deslocado”
