The Sammarinese representative revealed the staging will completely change for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.
In an interview with Sorrisi, Gabry Ponte talked about how his song, “Tutta l’Italia”, became viral through Festival di Sanremo. He revealed the song was meant to be just performed during the final night of the Italian festival, until Carlo Conti, Artistic Director of Sanremo, decided to choose this song as an anthem for the festival.
About his chances at Eurovision, Ponte declared when asked if he was competitive that:
You wouldn’t say so, but I am very competitive. I go there to play to the best of my ability, but calmly. I know that Eurovision is really unpredictable.
Talking about the staging for Basel, the DJ revealed it has changed from the San Marino Song Contest final:
It will be different. There are limitations on the number of people that can be brought on stage, a maximum of six. So we thought of changing almost everything that has been seen in recent weeks
He added that two singers will sing on stage, with Ponte giving them the choice to remain masked or not.

San Marino debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 alongside Azerbaijan. On their debut, they were represented by Miodio and the song “Complice”, and finished last in their semi-final with just 5 points. San Marino withdrew from the contest before returning in 2011. Since then the country has participated annually and in 2014, they qualified for their first final. Since their first qualification, they have qualified for the final in 2019 and 2021.
