The Norwegian Head of Delegation has revealed to TV2, that one second has been added to “Lighter” for Norway’s performance at Eurovision 2025.
Speaking at the Nordic Eurovision Party 2025, Mads Tørklep the Norwegian Head of Delegation, has revealed that an additional one-second pause has been added to “Lighter”. He explained to TV2 that:
It’s when the song is already in “break”, and we’re standing with the camera behind Kyle. There it’s added for one second, to make the magic even greater when we move the cameras closer to Kyle. This is to give goosebumps to all of Europe.
Mr Tørklep also explained that a large aspect of the performance has been changed for the stage in Basel, including the LED graphics and choreography. He explained that compared to Melodi Grand Prix, some of the backing dancers have been changed to backing singers.
One challenging aspect of the stage is the towers that joined Kyle Alessandro on stage at Melodi Grand Prix. The towers have to be rebuilt to be foldable, the structures will be 4 metres tall, but can be folded to half the height.
Kyle Alessandro will represent Norway with the song “Lighter,” co-written with Swedish producer Adam Woods. His performance won the competition, earning him the right to represent Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. Kyle Alessandro will will perform in the second half of the first semi-final on May 13.

Norway debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960 and have won the contest three times – in 1985, 1995 and 2009. The country has the dubious record of finishing last the most times, twelve in total, and have received nul points four times. Norway last won the contest in 2009 when Alexander Rybak broke all records with his song “Fairytale”. He scored 387 points in the final, receiving 16 sets of 12 points and scoring points from every country.
