An average of 493,000 viewers watched the second semi-final of Festival da Canção 2025 last Saturday on RTP 1.
An average of 493,000 viewers watched the second semi-final of Festival da Cançao 2025. The show had a share of 12% and was the third most-watched program in its time slot. Compared to the first semi-final, the second semi-final had 106,000 more viewers and a 3.3% higher share.
Although the second semi-final gained 89,000 viewers compared to the second semi-final of Festival da Cançao 2024, viewer figures remain under 500,000, as they have since 2023.
Hosted by Tânia Ribas de Oliveira and Sónia Araújo, the second semi-final saw 10 artists competing for 6 places in the Grand Final on March 8.

- JOSH – “Tristeza” (Sadness)
- Diana Vilarinho – “Cotovia” (Lark)
The Grand Final of Festival da Cançao 2025 will take place on March 8 at 22:00 CET in the RTP Studios in Lisbon. The show will be hosted by Filomena Cautelo and Vasco Palmeirim and will be broadcast live on RTP 1 and RTP Internacional. A combination of seven regional juries and public voting will determine the Portuguese representative for Basel in May.
Portugal finished 10th in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with Iolanda and her song “Grito”. This year, the country will compete in the first semi-final on May 13.

Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest
Portugal debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1964 represented by António Calvário. The country finished last scoring nul points. Before 2017, the best result of Portugal was 6th place which came in 1996 when Lúcia Moniz performed in Oslo. She scored 92 points, receiving 12 points from both Norway and Cyprus. In 2017, Portugal produced a spectacular win when Salvador Sobral took home the crystal microphone with his song “Amar pelos dois”. The 2018 contest was held in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon for the first time.
