Welcome to the Who Is series for Eurovision 2025. In each article, we will take a look at the 37 artists competing at the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland. First up is Nina Žižić from Montenegro, who returns to the contest after a two-year break.
Nina Žižić was born on 20th April 1985 in Nikšić, Montenegro. In 2004, she began her music career as part of the girl group Negre. The trio participated in the Serbo-Montenegrin selection for Eurovision that year, finishing in 3rd. In the same year, the group went on to once again achieve 3rd at the Sunčane Skale Festival in Montenegro, but it wasn’t long after that Nina parted ways with the band.
Afterward, she began her career as a soloist, releasing several singles over the years. In 2013, Nina was internally selected by Montenegrin broadcaster RTCG to represent Montenegro at the Eurovision Song Contest with the hip-hop duo Who See. With their song “Igranka”, they finished in 12th place in the first semi-final.
Most recently, Nina participated in Montenegro’s selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, finishing second behind NeonoeN. However, because the band elected to withdraw as Montenegro’s representative, due to their song being performed at a festival in 2023, Nina was then confirmed as their replacement.
Nina Žižić will sing “Dobrodošli” (Welcome) at this year’s contest in Basel. The song was written by Boris Subotićnd Violeta Mihajlovska Milić, with production handled by Darko Dimitrov. Dimitrov has written and produced several Eurovision entries to date, including “Proud” (North Macedonia 2019), “Loco Loco” (Serbia 2021), and “Firefighter” (Georgia 2024).

Montenegro debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest as an independent country in 2007 and participated until 2010 when they withdrew for financial reasons, Montenegro would return to the contest in 2012. Montenegro failed to qualify for the grand final until 2014 when Sergej Ćetković and his song “Moj svijet” placed 19th in the final. Their best result came a year later, when Knez performed “Adio” in Vienna. They have never reached the top 10, with Knez reaching 13th out of 27 countries. Montenegro has participated intermittently between 2019 and 2025, with withdrawals from 2020 to 2021 and 2023 to 2024.
