🇪🇸 Junior Eurovision 2024: A Look At the Schedule for the Contest Week

The 22nd Junior Eurovision Song Contest is just a week away, here’s what the week ahead looks like.

In just one weeks time the final of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take place. Delegations from seventeen countries are currently travelling to Madrid, with the contest set to be formally opened tomorrow in the Spanish capital.

The city of Madrid has begun to embrace the contest with banners celebrating the event up in the city. The focal point for the contest will be the Caja Mágica where stage construction has finished ahead of rehearsals commencing early next week.

November 10 – Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony for Junior Eurovision 2024 takes place tomorrow in Madrid. The Opening Ceremony this year will be a private event, as RTVE has opted to scale back the event following storms in Spain during the past week. DANA has led to deadly rains and flooding impacting many areas of Spain and has over 200 dead.

The event will now no longer be broadcast online or by RTVE, and will be a private event for the delegations, RTVE and the European Broadcasting Union. This is the first time that the Opening Ceremony will not be able to be followed online.

November 10 – First Rehearsals Day One

In addition to the rehearsals and postcard filming the singers will all be collaborating on the joint song. As has been the case for a number of editions the participants will perform a joint song during the interval of the final.

November 13 & 14 – Second Rehearsals

Tuesday and Wednesday will see the second round of technical rehearsals take place. These second rehearsals will last 30 minutes and are an opportunity for further refinement of the performances to be made before the full dress rehearsals.

November 15 – Dress Rehearsals,  Jury Final & Online Voting Opens

Friday will be arguably the most important day of the contest in determining the winner of the competition.

On Friday morning at 11:00 CET the first Full Rehearsal will take place. This will see the full show rehearsed from end to end including all of the performances, interval acts and the voting sequence.

In the evening the Jury Final will take place from 18:00 CET. This is the show followed by the national juries in the seventeen competing countries and will determine the results of the jury voting.

Online voting will open at 21:00 CET, and will close on Saturday 16 November at 17:59 CET. This gives followers of the contest just under 21 hours to vote in the first voting window. During the live show, voting will re-open for 15 minutes after the last song has been performed.

November 16 – Grand Final

The final of the 22nd Junior Eurovision Song Contest takes place live from Madrid at 18:00 CET. For the first time since 2015 the final is taking place on a Saturday night. Over 2 and a half hours the seventeen acts will perform for viewers across Europe, culminating in a tense voting sequence where the winner will be crowned.
