With the second edition of Festivali i Këngës në RTK having taken place, the Kosovar Government remains hopeful it proves the ability and willingness of the nation to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Festivali i Këngës në RTK 2024 took place this past weekend in Pristina, Kosovo with Endrit Krasniqi selected as the winner with “Flasë me tetanen “. Officials at RTK and within the Kosovar Government have expressed their ongoing support for the contest and view the contest as building the case for Kosovo’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Speaking to RTK Minister of Culture, Hajrulla Çeku commented:
I believe that with the second edition we have already given clear evidence that we are ready in terms of organization, quality and others. Only procedural aspects remain for the issue of membership and representation in Eurovision.
Festivali i Këngës në RTK was launched in 2023, with the intention that the contest would be used to select a future Kosovan representative for the Eurovision Song Contest.
The broadcaster applied earlier this year to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, however over the summer local media reported that EBU had rejected its application. RTK was informed by the EBU that they need to apply to become full members before they will be eligible to compete in the contest.
