Just over 5,000 viewers followed the French language broadcaster RTS’s broadcast of Eurovision Young Musicians 2024.
RTS recorded an audience of 6,000 viewers for the final of Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 which was broadcast on delay on RTS 2. RTS 2 is the secondary channel of RTS and focuses on cultural and sports broadcasts. Overall the broadcast had an audience share of 5.9% of viewers. The figures give Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 an average audience of 54,000 viewers in Switzerland.
Valerian Alfaré represented Switzerland on their return to Eurovision Young Musicians for the first time since 2006. He was the first musician to perform the euphonium at Eurovision Young Musicians.
The viewing figures for Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 reported to date are:
- Austria – ORF – 129,000 viewers – 13% share
- Belgium – RTBF – 12,670 viewers – 1.69% share
- Germany – WDR – 120,000 viewers – 3.1% share
- Norway – NRK – 114,000 viewers – share unknown
- Switzerland – RTS – 6,000 viewers – 5.9% share
- Switzerland – SRF – 48,000 viewers – 13.8% share
Eurovision Young Musicians 2024
Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 was held in the city of Bodø. Bodø which is a European Capital of Culture and played host to a Eurovision event for the first time, while Young Musicians returned to Norway for the first time since 2000.
The eleven participants were:
Armenia: Hayk Hekekyan (Oboe) – Oboe Concerto No. 1 in D minor, 1st movement- Austria: Leonhard Baumgartner (Violin) – Violin Concerto No. 5 in A minor, 1st movement – 1st
- Belgium: Mahault Ska (Piano) – Piano Concerto in G minor, 1st movement
- Czechia: Adam Znamirovský (Piano) – Piano Concerto No. 2, 3rd movement
- France: Pierre-Emmanuel Hurpeau (Piano) – Piano Concerto in G, 3rd movement
- Germany: Fabian Egger (Flute) – Tango Fantasia for flute and orchestra – 3rd
- Norway: Sebastian Egebakken Svenøy (Piano) – Piano Concerto No. 5, 3rd movement
- Poland: Jeremi Tabęcki (Clarinet) – Concert Fantasia on motives from Rigoletto
- Serbia: Bogdan Dugalić (Piano) – Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini
- Sweden: Hugo Svedberg (Cello) – Cello Concerto No. 1 in D major, 1st movement – 2nd
- Switzerland: Valerian Alfaré (Euphonium) – Excerpt from Euphonium Concert
Belgium: Mahault Ska (Piano) – Piano Concerto in G minor, 1st movement
Czechia: Adam Znamirovský (Piano) – Piano Concerto No. 2, 3rd movement
The competition for musicians between the ages of 12 and 21 and has been held since 1982, as the first spin-off contest of the Eurovision Song Contest. The event celebrated its twentieth edition in 2022 when Montpellier hosted the competition.
Over the twenty editions of the competition, a total of forty-two countries have competed across the history of the competition. Norway has competed in nineteen out of the twenty contests, tied with Austria. Austria is the most successful country having won six editions and competed in sixteen finals.
