Fabian Egger is the German representative for Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 in Bodø, Norway.
Flautist Fabian Egger will be representing Germany at the final of the 21st edition of Eurovision Young Musicians. Fabian is seventeen years old and has been playing the flute since he was 5 years old. The Flautist has been studying in Salzburg and Munch and receives a scholarship from the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein.
WDR will be broadcasting the final of Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 on delay, with coverage of the contest commencing at 21:40 CEST.
WDR has organised Germany’s participation in Eurovision Young Musicians since 2008 and has traditionally internally selected its participant for the competition. They also hosted the contest in Cologne in both 2014 and 2016.
At the 2022 contest in Montpellier, Germany finished second represented by Philipp Schupelius, the best result for Germany in the competition since 2004.
Eurovision Young Musicians 2024
The 21st edition of Eurovision Young Musicians is taking place in Bodø, Norway on April 17. Bodø, which is one of the European Capitals of Culture for 2024, is playing host to a Eurovision event for the first time, while Young Musicians returns to Norway for the first time since 2000.
Eleven countries are competing in the contest, the competing artists with the instrument they are competing with are as follows:

- Belgium: RTBF – Mahault Ska (Piano)
- Czechia: ČT – Adam (Piano)
- France: France Télévisions – Pierre-Emmanuel Hurpeau (Piano)
- Germany: WDR – Fabian Egger (Flute)
- Norway: NRK – Sebastian Egebakken Svenøy (Piano)
- Poland: TVP – Jeremi Tabęcki (Clarinet)
- Serbia: RTS – Bogdan Dugalić (Piano)
- Sweden: SVT – Hugo Svedberg (Cello)
- Switzerland : SRF – Valerian Alfaré (Euphonium)
After a lengthy absence, Armenia, Serbia and Switzerland have all made a return to the contest this year. Armenia are competing for the first time since 2012, Serbia since 2008 and Switzerland, the reigning Eurovision Song Contest champions, competing for the first time since 2006.
The competition for musicians between the ages of 12 and 21 and has been held since 1982, as the first spin-off contest of the Eurovision Song Contest. The event celebrated its twentieth edition in 2022 when Montpellier hosted the competition.
Over the twenty editions of the competition, a total of forty-two countries have competed across the history of the competition. Norway has competed in nineteen out of the twenty contests, tied with Austria. Austria is the most successful country having won 5 editions and competed in 15 finals.
