The city of Fribourg is currently examining whether or not to bid to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.
John Gobbi, CEO of HC Fribourg-Gottéron, a top-tier ice hockey hockey club based in Fribourg, confirmed that discussions are currently taking place as to whether the city could host Eurovision 2025. Gobbi stated:
“We are currently analysing and discussing if we could bring Eurovision 2025 to Fribourg”.
The most likely venue for Fribourg would be the BCF Arena, which is the home arena of HC Fribourg-Gottéron. Potential hurdles for using this venue would be its size and HC Fribourg-Gottéron’s play-off matches.
“We are also analysing if the ice rink could meet the size requirements. It is certainly big but there are bigger arenas in Switzerland.”
The BCF Arena can currently hold 9,000 spectators, which is below the 10,000 capicity requirement by Eurovision.
The local government of Fribourg confirmed to Radio Freiburg that they are also examining whether to place a bid or not:
“We are asking ourselves if the city could host such an event, notably in terms of accommodation and arena sizes etc.”
To date, four cities across Switzerland have publicly shown an interest in hosting Eurovision 2025. They are:

The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 is set to be held in Switzerland following the victory of Nemo with “The Code”. Switzerland won the Eurovision Song Contest for a third time, having won the 1956 and 1988 editions of the competition. In the coming weeks, discussions will take place with potential host cities across Switzerland.
