Toms Grēviņš and Lauris Reiniks will commentate for Latvia at this year’s contest in Malmö.
Latvian broadcaster LTV has confirmed that Toms Grēviņš and Lauris Reiniks will once again provide commentary for Latvia at the Eurovision Song Contest. Toms has been in the commentary booth every year since 2015, with Lauris making his debut alongside Toms in 2022.
Representing Latvia at this year’s contest is Dons with his song “Hollow”. Find out more about how his rehearsals have gone:
Who Is Dons?
Artūrs Šingirejs, better known as Dons, was born in Brocēni, Latvia on 10 April 1984. Dons began his career in the Latvian talent show Talantu Fabrikā in 2003. He released his first album in English songs. Dons’ following seven albums, Lelle (2008), Signāls (2013), Varanasi (2014), Sibīrija (2015), Tepat (2016), Namiņš. Kaste. Vārdi (2018), and Tūrists (2020) contain songs in Latvian.
Since then he has become a real household name in Latvia, having won the Latvian Music Recording Awards’ Top Radio Hit award seven times for the most played song.
Dons attempted to represent Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest twice with the songs “My Religion is Freedom” (2010) and “Pēdējā Vēstule” (2014), finishing in second both times in the country’s national final.

Latvia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000, being the last of the Baltic nations to join the contest. On their debut, Brainstorm finished in 3rd place with the song “My Star”. Latvia won the contest for the first and only time in 2002, with Marie N’s “I Wanna”. Latvia only participated in 2002 thanks to the withdrawal of Portugal from the contest, as Latvia’s poor result in 2001 had relegated them from the 2002 contest. Latvia struggled in the contest after 2002, failing to qualify for the final for six years between 2009 and 2014. They last made a final in 2016 with Justs and “Heartbeat”.
