The first evening of Sanremo 2024 reached 15,075,000 spectators yesterday.
More than 15 million viewers were detected, with 64.34% of all tv-watchers in the first part of the show, until CET 11.30pm. In the second part of the show, 6,527,000 people watched Italy’s Grand Festival, scoring 66.85% market share.

“Sanremo is continuing to grow in spectators. Last night was a record since the viewing figures in the late 90’s.”
A panel of professional journalists from TV and web outlets determined the results on the festival’s opening night. The top five from the jury vote were unveiled:
- Loredana Bertè – “Pazza” (Crazy)
- Angelina Mango – “La noia” (Boredom)
- Annalisa – “Sinceramente” (Sincerely)
- Diodato – “Ti muovi” (You move)
- Mahmood – “Tuta gold” (Golden suit)
Sanremo 2024 will continue throughout the week, leading to the grand final on Saturday. The victor will represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö.

Italy debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and has participated a total of 42 times to date. Italy returned to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 having last participated in the contest in 1997, the country has withdrawn from the contest on a number of occasions in the past. Italy has won the contest three times, the first time being in 1964 and the latest being in 2021. Italy’s hosting of the contest in 1991 has been remembered as one of the most chaotic contests to date. Since their return in 2011 Italy has finished in the top 10 on ten occasions.
