Yle has released hints about the sixth song that is set to compete in UMK 2024.
The Finnish broadcaster has continued its annual tradition of hinting at the songs that will be competing to represent Finland at Eurovision 2024. The hints released regarding the sixth song in the selection are:
- Iconic, but not Danny
- Trailblazer
- Slay!
UMK 2024
The candidates for UMK 2024 will be unveiled on Wednesday, January 10, at 19:00 CET. The reveal will unfold during a broadcast on Yle TV1, Yle Areena, and UMK’s official YouTube channel. Catering to an international audience, the broadcast will feature commentary in Finnish, Swedish, and English.
Following the grand reveal, the seven nominated songs will be released gradually, building anticipation from January 11 to January 19. The planned release schedule is as follows:
- Thursday 11/1 – First nominated song
- Friday 12/1 – Second nominated song
- Monday 15/1 – Third nominated song
- Tuesday 16/1 – Fourth nominated song
- Wednesday 17/1 – Fifth nominated song
- Thursday 18/1 – Sixth nominated song
- Friday 19/1 – Seventh nominated song
The grand finale of UMK 2024 in Tampere will take place on Saturday, February 10, at 20:00 CET.

Finland first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961. They debuted alongside Spain and Yugoslavia. Finland has finished last in the contest on 10 occasions and has received ‘nul points’ three times. It wasn’t until 2006 that Finland won the Eurovision Song Contest. Lordi represented the country in Athens with the song “Hard Rock Hallelujah” scoring 292 points, a record total at the time.
