Barbara Schöneberger has been announced as the host of Das Deutsche Finale 2024, the German selection for Eurovision 2024.
Schöneberger will be moderating the decision of the German public for the Eurovision Song Contest for the eighth time, having already hosted the previous selections of 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2023.
Earlier this year she was also awarded the German Television Prize 2023 for moderating Unser Lied Fur Liverpool, the German preliminary decision for the past edition of the Contest.
Eurovision Song Contest – Das Deutsche Finale 2024 will take place on February 16 2024 at 10 PM. It will be broadcast live from Berlin on Das Erste, eurovision.de, and ARD Mediathek. The winner will have the opportunity to fly to Malmö and represent Germany at the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest next May.
Germany finished last in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, with Lord of the Lost and the song “Blood and Glitter”. The group scored 18 points across the juries and televote, marking a second consecutive last-place performance for Germany at the contest.

Germany was one of seven countries to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. The country has taken part in every contest since then, apart from in 1996 when they failed to make it through the qualifying round. To date Germany has won the contest twice, the first time being in 1982 when Nicole sang “Ein Bisschen Frieden” in Harrogate, which later became a global hit. Germany didn’t win again until 2010 when Lena sang “Satellite” in Oslo. She received 9 sets of 12 points, scoring 246 points overall.
