As Sweden prepares to host a new version of the Eurovision Song Contest, they’ve asked some old collaborators to return.
It’s been confirmed that Edward af Sillén and Daniel Réhn, the writers of both the 2013 and 2016 contests, will be returning to help script Eurovision 2024 in Malmö, Sweden.
Additionally, Edward has also confirmed on social media that he will be directing the host sections and interval acts once again.
Sillén and Réhn were the writers behind some of the most popular skits and performances in recent Eurovision history. Most notably, they helped write “Love Love Peace Peace”, the legendary interval act performed by 2016 hosts Petra Mede and Måns Zelmerlöw in Stockholm.
Ebba Adielsson, Executive Producer of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, says she is “incredibly happy” to have Sillén and Réhn back on board for next year’s competition:
We are of course incredibly happy that Edward has boarded the train again. He has a deep knowledge of Eurovision and a great sense of humour. He has shown that it is possible to make fun of the competition in a loving way and has created legendary Eurovision broadcasts. Together with Daniel Réhn and the rest of the team, I am convinced that he will deliver three fantastic shows for television viewers all over the world.’
Reacting to the announcement on X, formerly Twitter, Edward af Sillén said that “spring is looking bright”:
The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take place at the Malmö Arena in Malmö, Sweden, with the three shows on the 7th, 9th and 11th of May 2024.

Eurovision 2024
Loreen won the 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest for Sweden with “Tattoo”. She is the first female two-time winner of the competition, having previously won the 2012 contest with “Euphoria”.
This is Sweden’s seventh Eurovision win, following victories in 1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012 and 2015. This makes Sweden the joint most successful country in Eurovision alongside Ireland. Loreen has also become the first woman and the second person overall to win Eurovision twice.
Malmö will host the contest for the third time, having previously hosted in 1992 and 2013.
