ARD, the German national broadcaster, has announced that one finalist of Eurovision Song Contest 2024 – Das Deutsche Finale will be chosen through Ich will zum ESC!.
Ich will zum ESC! (I want to go to the Eurovision Song Contest!) will select one finalist to compete in Eurovision Song Contest 2024 – Das Deutsche Finale. The show will involve 15 new artists being coached by Conchita Wurst, winner of Eurovision 2014 for Austria, and Rea Garvey, singer-songwriter and producer. Over six episodes, Conchita and Rea will coach 15 artists as they work on their potential Eurovision entries.
The 15 competing artists and their home cities are:

- Bibiane (Berlin)
- Celina (Bonn)
- Christos (Mindelheim)
- Esther (Delmenhorst)
- Florian (Künzelsau)
- Jamina (Hamburg)
- Luca (Berlin)
- Lyn (Günzburg)
- Marie (München)
- Paul (Leipzig)
- Sophie (Berlin)
- Sven (Essen)
Conchita, who will be celebrating ten years since she won Eurovision next year, stated:
“We offer participants a unique opportunity. Anyone who has been able to experience the very special flair of the Eurovision stage will carry this life-changing experience in their hearts forever!”
Rea added:
“The job as a coach is nothing new for me, but this time it is a particularly exciting challenge. I am very excited to see whether the winner will come from my team. And who knows – maybe we will see each other in Berlin or even Malmö again!”
During the first three episodes, which will be available from January 27 on ARD Mediathek, the two coaches will each make teams out of the 15 selected artists. The coaches will then work on potential Eurovision entries with composers of their choice. In episode 5 on February 1, the four potential entries will be produced before two artists are chosen to advance to the final episode. The final episode will take place live on February 8 and will be broadcast on ARD Mediathek and NDR. A public vote will decide which finalist moves on to Eurovision Song Contest 2024 – Das Deutsche Finale.
Eurovision Song Contest – Das Deutsche Finale 2024 will be broadcast live from Berlin on February 16 on Das Erste, eurovision.de, and ARD Mediathek.
Germany finished last in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, with Lord of the Lost and the song “Blood and Glitter”. The group scored 18 points across the juries and televote, marking a second consecutive last-place performance for Germany at the contest.

Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest
Germany was one of seven countries to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. The country has taken part in every contest since then, apart from in 1996 when they failed to make it through the qualifying round. To date Germany has won the contest twice. The first time was in 1982 when Nicole sang “Ein Bisschen Frieden” in Harrogate, which later became a global hit. Germany didn’t win again until 2010 when Lena sang “Satellite” in Oslo. She received 9 sets of 12 points, scoring 246 points overall.
