The twenty-four artists that will compete in the Festival di Sanremo 2024 are set to be revealed this afternoon.
Amadeus will reveal the line-up for the Festival di Sanremo 2024 during TG1 from 13:30 CET. The Creative Director has been working over the past months to form the line-up for one of the most iconic events in Italian television. You can watch the announcement live here.
Earlier this week the co-hosts for each night of Festival di Sanremo 2024 were announced:
- Tuesday 6 February – Marco Mengoni
- Wednesday 7 February – Giorgia
- Thursday 8 February – Teresa Mannino
- Friday 9 February – Lorella Cuccarini
- Saturday 10 February – Fiorello
The Festival di Sanremo is a legendary part of Italian culture. The festival has been running since 1951, which makes it five years older than the Eurovision Song Contest. In fact, Eurovision itself was based on Sanremo.
Previous winners of the festival have become some of Italy’s biggest musical stars, achieving fame across the globe. Some of the artists who have triumphed at Sanremo include Laura Pausini, Andrea Bocelli, and Italy’s most recent Eurovision winners, Måneskin.
Marco Mengoni represented Italy for the first time in 2013, two years after the country’s return to the Eurovision Song Contest, with the song “L’essenziale”, obtaining 7th place. Italy was represented again by him at Eurovision 2023 with his song “Due Vite”, which finished in 4th place with 350 points. Italy received 12 points from the juries of San Marino, Austria, Croatia, Romania and Slovenia, with 12 points from the public in Albania and Malta.
